At least they won't make him sit on the bench the whole game without a shift.

The trick to being on time is to anticipate delays and arrive early. He's a bit of a dinosaur. I mean we all get stuck in traffic or forget to set the alarm etc, once in awhile.
100%The trick to being on time os to anticipate delays and arrive early.
When Vince Lombardi was coaching the Packers, showing up at 9am.for a 9am meeting meant you were late and he would punish you. 9am for the rest of the world meant 8:30am on Lombardi Standard Time.
He also had a plis/minus system in place. If you missed a tackle, it was a -1. If you made the tackle it was a 0 because you only did your job. To get a +1 you had to do something exceptional.
This is why Lombardi's teams were winners. As he said "We will pursue perfection, knowing we will never reach it. But in the pursuit of perfection we will catch up to excellence."
Guhle needs to learn that being "on time".is actually "being late".
In my close to 40 years in the workaday world, I can count the times I've showed up late on the fingers of one hand. I have no patience for tardiness.
How's that for dinosaur?
I am late for work everyday, but I still put in my 8 hours. The trick to being on time is to anticipate delays and arrive early.

If you’re late every day then you must be a moron. Being on time isn’t that hard. Also, being on a pro sports team requires that you accept a somewhat regimented lifestyle, adherence to rules, etc., for the greater good. You understand that, right?I am late for work everyday, but I still put in my 8 hours.
I dunno, I have been working for 30 years + and have not been lectured for being late. And I'm more late than not.If you’re late every day then you must be a moron. Being on time isn’t that hard. Once I am at work , I dont take breaks and I don't do idle talk, like 99% of my co-workers, so that's why I probably get away with it.I've had to manage people (millennials, mostly) and some of them were chronically late. It also seemed to follow that there was a good bit of absenteeism to go along with the tardiness, as well as unreasonably extending breaks. This was a particular issue with the smokers.
In the end, we wound up firing them because we figured out a universal truth: that being late, like being on time, is a CHOICE.
The reason these people were constantly late or absent is because, at a fundamental level, they just didn't care enough to be on time. Sure, you could punish them and warn them and their behavior would improve for a while (proving that they COULD be on time IF they wanted to be) but in the end they always slid back into their past patterns of behavior until we got fed up and cut them loose.
The kind of person who is chronically late is that way because that's who they are. They just dont give a shit. Half of life is about simply showing up. If you cant even be arsed do that much consistently, you're a fucking useless employee who needs to be made into an ex-employee.
The problem, I found, was often that these people lived at home with mommy so if they lost their job, no biggie. None of them were going to be evicted from anywhere. Nothing like the threat of homelessness to focus a person's energy.
You still need to be punished. It's bad for company morale if coworkers see you getting away with it.Once I am at work , I dont take breaks and I don't do idle talk, like 99% of my co-workers, so that's why I probably get away with it.
lol, they dont give a rats ass, they still happily chit chat the day away. Besides many like me start the day a bit later. You still need to be punished. It's bad for company morale if coworkers see you getting away with it.
