2024-25 Canes Miscellaneous Thread

Yeah, I've never been over there to notice, but most of those things tend to fit in eventually. Again, that's the way the tide is pulling

I've got family coming into town for Thanksgiving from Atlanta. They were Thrashers fans and followed the franchise to Winnipeg. The Jets play in Raleigh on 11-28-25 and they're planning to attend. I wondered if there are any STM's here who could help a brother out to score some tickets at a better than box office rate? My brother, his sons, & their fiancee's want one pair of tickets in the lower bowl, so they can tag team and switch seats during the game, otherwise upper bowl is fine. I'd appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks.

Jim

I would, but I'm already blowing my vouchers for extras for that game for my own crew.
Thanks. I wouldn't want to use somebody else's vouchers, I was just hoping STM's could get a break on tix. It sounds like things have changed since I had 'em. Demand will do that for you, I guess.

Jim

Jim, hop online and join the The Original Carolina Hurricanes Ticket Exchange Group on Facebook. Probably the safest and best resale site and used by Canes Season Ticket Holders for extras without all the crazy fees. I have used that site multiple times and it's highly screened for no BS and scams.IMG_6829.jpeg

I doubt it's particularly acrimonious, but we'll see over time. I was surprised that Warf agreed to come back, knowing just how much was on the plate given the facilities work over the next 5-6 years. Doug is a relationship building guy, and the job for the foreseeable future is going to involve a LOT of not that. My understanding was that Phil Isley was going to take on a lot of the project management stuff, and maybe they butted heads a little. Also, Brian Fork (current CEO) can be ... umm ... a handful. That could have been a point of friction.

In other outlets it was framed as "wanted to seek other opportunities" FWIW ... which means about as much as the alignment babble. I freaking hate corporate-speak even though it's a language I understand. Translation into English ... the job wasn't a comfortable fit for either Warf or Dundon and they've agreed to part ways. He resigned, with no statement about the resignation being requested.

Having lived on the edge of North Ridge for several years, the same happened there, since the early 2000s. Buy a 40 year old house for $800,000, bulldoze it and build a $2.5m in its place. Bill Cowher and others did just that. North Ridge is barely recognizable now. 5,000sq ft homes literally stacked a few feet from each other on golf course lots.
We moved to the corner of Hunting Ridge & Rainwater in h/s and it is still somewhat recognizable there, but lots of it is not. Like my friend Chuck's house!

Oh, yeah. I've lived in North Ridge for over 20 years and the upscale is VERY real. Honestly, some of it sort of makes sense in the context of the neighborhood, depending on which phase you're talking about. But dropping a $2 million+ house on one of those 70s side streets like Fiesta or the old section of Haymarket is bonkers.
We lived in the Haymarket part on Ravenhurst Dr. when we moved here in 1973.
Hell, in h/s the total value of Fiesta Way was probably under $2M. My h/s & college g/f lived there. It's always a trip down memory lane driving down Fiesta. I leave my sister's place (dentist) on Falls of Neuse and turn right only and head down memory lane. I have some nice, big, blond memories from Fiesta Way!

On Warf, I'm seeing some traction online (looks to be driven by Sarah Civian's reporting) that Warf and Dundon butted heads over the discussions surrounding potential offers to McLeod and Hart. For the reasons you'd probably guess. No idea if that's true or not, but here we are. If it IS true then we'll probably never see a detailed public statement.

Who was on what side? Dundon wanted them Warf didn’t? Or vice versa?

One thing I will say on Warf is that the guy is a stand up human being and a great guy and the Canes were always dear to his heart, not just because he worked for them twice but he loved the team and it always seemed genuine. No shade on Dundon but I can’t imagine he’s easy to work for, sometimes it’s easier on your wellbeing to take the high road.

I still have several friends in the organization and they like working for the guy. But, every personality is different and You’re not going to get along with everyone. I’ve heard Doug wanted to do his own thing for a while. Maybe now was the time 🤷🏻‍♂️
