OT: Movies/TV Shows

Department Q. On Netflix, based on a long running series of Danish novels, took me a minute to latch onto originally because of its dark/drab color scheme…..but circling back to it this past week, feel in love with it and devoured all 9 episodes…it’s one of the best detective shows I’ve seen in a while, and I think surpasses shows like TASK & Mare of Easttown as far as gritty procedurals go, and is maybe the closest thing to True Detective season 1, that I can recall.

Matthew Good is phenomenal in the lead, and ‘Akram’ his Syrian sidekick is easily my favorite character in any show this year….

Entire premise of the show, (Department Q being created to go over cold cases) and its long running series of source material (think there’s 9 books?)…means they should be able to deliver quite a few seasons of quality material. There’s also a Danish trilogy that was made from these a decade ago, but having trouble finding them anywhere to watch.

Hadn’t realized till after I watched it, but it’s the same writer/show runner as ‘Queen Gambit’…👌🏼

Yeah, we really liked it. Hope they put out another season soon-ish.
