Yeah, I've seen him mentioned in what at this point are probably highly speculative packages for Robert Thomas, who would be an ideal 2C in the Canes' system.Nadeau is showing up on trade bait lists ahead of the deadline. I do think he’s an NHL scorer at some point, because his shot is just that good and his passing game is starting to catch up, but I don’t really see an obvious path for him with the Hurricanes. If Carolina makes a swing for a Top 6 forward at the deadline, I could easily see a 1st rounder and Nadeau as the outgoing cost.
Unfortunately, the packages I’ve seen for Thomas also include Nikishin. To me, that’s a non-starter in a package for a forward, even one as desperately needed as a 2C. Including him in a Quinn Hughes package makes more sense, that’s closer to a like for like.Yeah, I've seen him mentioned in what at this point are probably highly speculative packages for Robert Thomas, who would be an ideal 2C in the Canes' system.

It’s the size thing … and the lack of a defensive dimension. Same as always.Canes Prospects ranked the top 15 prospects in the system. The top 3 are Nadeau, Legault and Unger Sorum. The biggest surprise to me is that Nystrom is ranked 9th even though they say he has 500+ NHL games ahead of him.

And at 2nd glance, he’s the 3rd dman listed behind Legault (which makes sense) and Siryatsky, who may well be a great prospect but, as with many of our Russians, it’s a question of whether they make it to this side of the ocean. It’s the size thing … and the lack of a defensive dimension.
