There never is. This isn't remotely the first time a bunch of weirdo populists got into power promising that big wasteful government was over and they were going to find billions in savings, only to look into it and realize that to a varying degree of efficiency it's all just normal boring government doing normal boring government things.

Which is of course the problem, because "big government" is the only thing big enough to stop organized capital from owning us all.
