Strictly from an on-ice perspective, I feel the best idea would be to let Hage go to Laval to finish out the season... then try to earn a spot on the big club next season. Of course, I know there are contractual considerations that could come into play.

Not sure Hage / agent would buy into a PTO - quite certain they’ll want to burn a year off ELC because that’s the standard cost of doing business, especially for 1st rounders in NCAA

While not 100% identical, the specter of Cutter Gauthier should be visible to every NHL front office.

Like Hutson and others before him, they’ll burn a year. It’s mildly annoying because entry level contracts essentially become 2 yr deals before the big extension kicks in.
