OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

i still haven't lost faith in his shooting tbh. form is good. he's gotta shoot with confidence.

I've seen too many players significantly improve their shooting to write it off as impossible. But he couldn't shoot in the NCAA, and can't shoot in the NBA so far. I don't think this is likely at all and it's going to turn out to be fatal to his NBA career sooner rather than later. We're a weirdo organization who will value his leadership and all of that off the court stuff for a while, but once we identify that backup guard spot at something we need a significant upgrade in, I don't think he ever gets off of the deep bench for anyone else.

Need moar StarJ. He has the clutch gene.

Have I mentioned how much I dislike this weird all DHO, no P/R offence we run? This shit is why.

He was able to pretty much a break even player this year in a pretty big role even without the shooting.

I don’t think he'll ever be q great shooter but he can be a better one.

Yeah, that is why he should play off the ball. That is his career trajectory. If he can get there, it's up to him.

Why would a defence ever give a fuck about a player off ball who shoots 32% from 3? They would just ignore him and cover everyone else. Let him shoot 30 times a game wide open. Same issue we have when he's on the ball. They just ignore him and wait for him to force a pass because he doesn't want to shoot.

Their buckets feel easy

Ours feel like we had to earn every one.

Every game against good teams. We value guys who play D over having ball skills, and we run a DHO offensive setup that is all about trying to get guys downhill in 1v1 matchups. The only other two teams in the league who run a similar setup missed the playoffs.

Every shot seems like such hard work, regardless how good a look Alvin thinks it is.

It's been like this all year, to the point of looking inept against top 10 defences. Cleveland is something like the 18th ranked D in the league since the Harden trade and we don't generate good looks against them either now that it's playoff intensity & effort.

I don't care how good defensively you are, you can't beat good teams in the playoffs like this. We need like 3-4 players with ball skills to replace the hard limited guys we have here.

They've built a team that probably wont piss anything away vs bad teams ( and there are a fuck ton of them) but really struggle vs the top and high mid of the league.

I dont see that as a recipe for success.

Ill be pretty dissappointed if they decide to run it back with "improvements internally from the kids" as the hope.

I'll be on my 'Fire Bobby' shit if that's the case. We just have too many guys with major limitations when the ball is in their hands. Even most of our good players all have significant limitations with the ball in their hands.

While we were chasing market inefficiencies with all of this all D long bois shit, there was a skill revolution in the NBA that we missed out on.
