Here is what happens if the pick is retained:

• Draft Top Talent: The Leafs get to select a high-profile player in the 2026 NHL Draft (top-five selection).
  
  
• 2027 Pick Gone: The 2027 first-round pick goes to Philadelphia (if it's outside the top 10) or, if that 2027 pick is top-10, they have complex options, often resulting in them losing both '27 and '28 picks.
  
  
• 2028 Pick Gone: The 2028 unprotected first-round pick is sent to Boston (via the Carlo trade).
