OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

The folks i heard suggesting it said that IQ plus picks would be the framework as he is kinda what Minny needs

Ehhh...that gets tough for me and I get that the narrative value would suggest that's fair but I don't give a shit about narrative.

IQ is a 27 yr old (in a month) PG that graded out as an ~89th percentile player last season, 11th among PG's (one of the most competitive positions in the league quality wise). He's signed to a flat 32.5 million for the next 3 seasons. That's a way better deal than people make it out to be and will be seen as a value deal as early as next season. Rudy is a 34 yr old (in a month) centre who grades out as a 97th percentile player (100th percentile defensively) and has 1 more guaranteed season on his deal. I don't know what extension size he can look for (I think it's a max of 140% of the final season of his current deal, with an 8% annual uplift. Don't quote me, but it's probably close enough), but it's a big ass number until he's potentially 39 yrs old. Similar to the Spider discussion, I don't want to be paying Rudy 50+ million when he's 37-38-39 yrs old.

If this was Ingram and a 1st or something, okay. But a ~90th percentile player at a position of need for us who is in his prime for Rudy on his expensive downswing? A move that would then put us in a position of having to get Jake off of the books in a different move? I'd rather just buy low on Sabonis and send Jake in the deal with draft equity instead of IQ + draft equity for a guy who is of similar overall impact, just arrives there differently.
