Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

I guess that depends on what you mean by "come around"

Ive been projecting him a 30/60 power forward for about 3 years now, no? That's pretty much what he's been the last 2 seasons.
I think you’re confusing that with wanting to trade him at the deadline for a rental because his stats didn’t make it seem likely he’d be an impact player in the nhl. And then when pressed for a prediction, started calling him a 20 goal guy.

Wait, what? I never suggested that at all. The amount of ass hurt about a Knies take that has turned out pretty accurate when everyone else was just screaming "stud" or "beast" here is wild.

For example, here is me not wanting to trade him for ROR and suggesting what I would consider trading him for.

Some of us have mastered the forumice way. ME is one of those people. HP is not.

I have no issue owning any difference between what I actually said, and what has happened. If people want to hold me to the 25/55 take or even the bit of a tongue in cheek "mythical version of Engvall" take, fucking whatever.

But can we just accept what he's been first before drawing and fucking quartering me?

This season among forwards:

-90th in goals
-61st in points
-78th in ppg
-101st in Offensive Net Rating

Can we at least stop fucking reacting like he's won back to back Art Ross' and that 25/55 is some massive gap from the 26/62 that he's been the last 2 seasons?

For what it's worth, I always loved engvall so I took your comparison as an enormous compliment.

He was a soft giraffe bitch who was a nerdies god and chipped in some offence. It was at least partially a joke based on them both being handsome men ffs, but calling someone a 25 goal physical version of Engvall isn't an insult.

So there were some straggler playoffs still going on, especially in europe, so here's another update - the only players still playing i'm pretty sure are the marlies. Though you never know with the euro leagues.

And Koblar of course, who i added WC for because fuck ya.

Fwiw, here's the good news from his SHL debut this season

Erikson Ek: .37
Adrian Kempe: .34
Alex Steen: .33
Grundstrom: .33
Koblar: .30ppg
Calle Jarnkrok: .30
Loui Eriksson: .28
Nils Hoglander: .28
Jonas Hoglund: .25
Patric Hornqvist: .15
Carl Soderberg: .08

It's not out of the question that he develops into a decent or better NHL'er based on his SHL performance as a 18 yr old.

swedish league is famous for top-6 / bottom-6 nonsense, where it's almost impossible to score much unless you're used on a scoring line.

Yeah, all it really says is where they are at the time. If they're not top 6 at that age, why not when other good prospects have been? It's not a death sentence as a prospect, definitely. But it does beg the question is all.

honestly him just making the top league as an 18yr old is impressive, especially with his unheralded background.

him being good enough for the WCs and earning his way to the top line is also impressive all by itself, even if it didn't come with his hilarious scoring numbers.
