The Official 2026 Off-Season Thread: Revenge of the Nerds

So with our RFA signed, we're now a little over $10m in capspace with a full 23 man roster.

Carlo dump and Domi ltir brings that up to $17.5 in capspace with a full roster.

Then add the caphits of anyone else you're replacing on the roster.
Love that "with full 23 man roster" - fuck yeah.

Something that has gone completely unmentioned today?

TB just got a whole heck of a lot weaker by losing Raddysh off the roster for nothing.

I'll be very disappointed if Maccelli is around then too. He needs to be gone, and the thought of any decent asset coming back (3rd or whatever) excites me. Would love to use his money on others.

I'm good with Joshua and Maccelli. Both imperfect but both serve roles as a stabilizing physical force with decent nerdies and a guy that can add some skill on a third line and jump up to the top six when needed.

Can't turn over the whole roster. Dumping those guys are low priority for me.

Carlo and Domi (hes probably on ltir anyway) are the only two that they need to lose.

As for additions, a two-way center (good defensively is a must) is mandatory and a top 4 d is a nice to have. Their wingers as currently constructed are fine imo.

I will say, Maccelli, Robertson, Cowan, McKenna, Nylander is a group of mega skilled but defensively flawed wingers. Hence, why I'd be eager to keep Joshua and why I'm calling a good defensive 3c mandatory.

Should be fun to watch the Leafs this year. Gonna be weird.

Joshua I'm totally fine with keeping because, as Presty says, he does something different, and he could end up being valuable if he can play the specific role we want him to play.

I can't stand Maccelli. This is the same as the Domi love from before last season, where any excuse would be found to defend him, and I kept saying it doesn't matter, he sucks and hurts the team. Maccelli is the exact same type, just hurts you in different ways. A complete empty calorie bum that they should not be paying $3.5m or more. I'm hopeful Chayka sees it the same way, even if he drafted him. There's a reason Utah was fine just dumping him for a pick.
