Around the League 2019-2026 Edition

You can wait and then pay him 11 million after he puts up 70-80 points next year.

The Knies deal has turned out to be a great deal, and this deal will turn out to be a great deal. Benson is good. I don't give Buffalo credit often, but this is smart business.
We'll see. I'm not going to pretend I'm any kind of expert on the player. I just don't think I'd be signing that deal, and would much rather bridge it for 3 years and then pay the $11M if I have to. He'd still be an RFA, so there's still plenty of leverage.

And you could always trade him to Chicago for 1st overall that year if you can't sign him to a reasonable deal.

This where analytics comes in. Both sides crunched the numbers and agreed to fair value. Of course, neither side has a crystal ball but relying on that shit is for suckers

His underlying numbers and nerdies were very good, he was excellent in the playoffs and he's small in the way Brad Marchand is small. He's tough to play against.

If he was a Leaf and you saw him a bunch of times, you would be signing him. When he's 25 and still making 7.5 million for 2 more years under a 140+ million dollar cap, this will look genius.

Yeah, like I said, I haven't paid attention to the guy. Maybe it is a good Knies-ian deal, but feels early.
