The Official 2026 Off-Season Thread: Revenge of the Nerds

Tho the worst case base on recent performance is worse for arvidsson than sissons.

How? Sissons over his last 2 seasons combined barely put up more points than Arvidsson did in the season with Edmonton two years ago you're worried about.

The only major concern point on Arvidsson is the back injury from 2+ seasons ago now, which last season sure suggests he's gotten over. Sissons has pretty much always either been a talentless bum.

The did need depth wingers that could PK, and take on checking line minutes, so Auston doesn't have to carry the load there.

I agree that Arvidsson isn't what they need. But they just didn't need to rush into a lot of what they did today, and could have achieved the same thing for less later.

And maybe even walked into better things (like Hayton).

Yeah, this is egregious and indicates some disorganization.

If you're targeting guys, you've got specific holes to fill and want them to fill them. Once you fill the holes, why are you getting more of the same guys? The only thing I can figure is that they didn't expect Paul was available and really liked him so when they got a call from TB they felt they had to get him and worry about the excess bodies later? I don't know, today is almost incomprehensible.

Did we actually do that today though? Other than Jake Paul, who is pretty good if last year was just an injury aberration, we added guys who either didn't face the heavies for their previous team, or got caved the fuck in while facing the heavies (Blueger).

I still want to know how analytics came into play regarding the decisions made in free agency today.

I believe I could have gotten any of you number-crunchers to present better and cheaper options than what was produced today.

i did not realize this is the guy we signed

Wow, I haven't heard his name in a while but each time I did previously he was knocking off some pro boxer.

Is this recent? He actually got his ass handed to him by someone? That is a devastating punch.
