The Official 2026 Off-Season Thread: Revenge of the Nerds

The Ru Paul move might be good, if he both bounces back and the 6'7 viking goalie isn't actually good, which he might be.
So i dont think you can view Hildeby as part of the Paul move? Like yes he was in the trade but he was forced out by choosing Bob and had limited value.

Sid Siexeiro loves the Bob move btw, so that should say alot.

And someone needed to play the heavies instead of Matthews, and fuck me the UFA market was thin.

Paul on the market would have got Jenner money i think.
Paul had 15 points in 57 games this year (22 point pace). Jenner had 38 in 67 (47 point pace).

I think he'd get paid pretty well because he was decent a couple years ago, but Jenner money is a bit aggressive for a guy that barely an NHL player this year.

His two years previous were really good, and he was hurt.

I suspect he'd get the benefit of the doubt, and my understanding is Jenner is less a C and more a W these days, but granted im just repeating something i herd on a YT video here.

Colton Sissons got 4.5, Paul a legit 3LC and possibly a damn good one would have got paid

If we didn't get Sissons, I'd be significantly less annoyed.

And if Bob signed for 2 years, I'd be only semi disappointed overall.

And if they chose to trade Stolarz for something and kept Hildeby as the backup, I might even be happy with today.

But there were a lot of unforced errors today. It may still work out, but we could have created a much better blueprint for success.

Great. More depression.

And even more - because of what he did today with the goalies, I'm convinced he's intent on reshaping the team so that it's "his" team and not Dubas or Tre's. Which means, I am sadly revising my opinion on what he wants to do.

I think he is actively trying to get rid of Knies in a trade for some bigger name dman, and he'll keep trying all summer, but it just won't be Werenski. And he probably is trying to push out Rielly, who I don't believe is anxious to go, but is being pressured to. This really sucks. You don't have to mess with the foundation to pull off a fantastic renovation. I thought he was on the same page with that until today. Hard to believe it anymore.

I still want to know what was up with this Bob situation. That image on the jumbotron. The odd confidence of Elliotte in repeatedly linking him to us, even knowing the numbers for the deal. This was obvious tampering unless Florida knew about it and allowed it. They must have been talking trade for his rights.

Not really seeing the improvement from last year besides the obvious Raddysh and McKenna. Not nearly good enough imo. Besides Raddysh our defense isnt changed much.

McCabe - Raddysh
Rielly - Tanev
Andrae? - OEL

Tanev is still doing a lot of heavy lifting there. Really hoping the wheels haven’t fallen off Rielly. OEL old.

A bunch of moves made today that seem more to be about change for the sake of change and less about being way better than they were last year.

I think the D is good, but I also think he's still trying to make moves.

No one is safe now. If he can't push Rielly out, then I bet he looks for a deal for McCabe and tries to push him out, though he has the same trade protection. Tanev is probably untradeable, so OEL is the low hanging fruit. If he will make change for change, then he's the most vulnerable to exit.
