Les Habitants Prospects Thread

Not exactly a prospect post, but I think it is worth mentioning...

Alain Sanscartier, the Hens' radio analyst, and the big boss of the midget AAA program in Gatineau (Intrépide) said yesterday on radio that Benoît Groulx, the Gatineau Olympiques coach, could be headed to Hamilton next season. He didn't say if he would become the head coach or just an assistant to Lever. But I wanted to pass the info.

Specially to AH, who knows the love I have for the guy. hehehe.

By the way, the Piques could be headed to the Q finals yet again. They are leading the heavy favorites Halifax Mooseheads 3-0 in their series.

I added Yannick Weber to facebook just for kicks and thought it was pretty interesting to see that he had Mathieu Carle, Cameron Cepek, Kyle Chipchura, Max Pacioretty and P.K. Subban all on his friend's list. Getting along this quick... the future is looking bright my friends, haha.
After reading this I went through Weber's list of friends just out of curiosity. I noticed there were two people from Switzerland named Bykov. Back in the 1980s, Vyacheslav Bykov used to play for the USSR team in international tournaments. He was drafted by an NHL team (Québec ?) but chose to play in Switzerland instead after 1989, when it became possible for Eastern Europe players to relocate to the West. These two Bykovs are most likely his children.

Ahh, the memories of the glorious 87 Canada Cup...

I remember reading a story last year during the Dogs playoff run that Ron Wilson was likely to get a shot at being a head coach somewhere and they weren't sure how much longer he'd stick around as an assistant coach in Hamilton. Maybe he's leaving?

Ugh... Gatineau was really good in the two games in Hali and I see they killed 'em last night.

Too bad.

So who will follow the final?
Who has the best chance to win?

Pacioretty even sees we need more players of Avery's ilk. 39 points in 37 games as a rookie is pretty good. I don't think it would hurt him to stay another year at Michigan like Komisarek did though.

This probably doesn't belong here, anyway:

FYI, Bob MacKenzie was on Team990 this morning & said the Habs had two names written as their choice on the card for their 4th round pick in 2004 - sensing they had a steal in the making. 1st choice was Johan Franzen, who ended up being snagged late in the 3rd round by Detroit at 97th overall, so they went with choice #2 J.T. Wyman as the 100th pick overall.

Well if true that is actually good news. It means our scouts are doing their jobs correctly.

I just caught an interview with PK between periods of the OHL final. He seems like a very smart, fun loving dude...Weber is hurt and not playing for Kitchener. It's been a very good game thus far.
