I'm not saying his value wont be higher in the future, project that however you want. But right now, these past few weeks, he seems to be the flavour everyone wants. Feels like there's been a lot of churn since the MTL fax machine rumour. Funny how that works
Lundell plays with bite so he is vastly overrated by people like Hayes. I agree with him in the sense that they should have got a roster player back in that deal IN ADDITION to all the picks. But that dude ain't even the #5 most important player on the team
Nobody wants to sell because he's at an alltime high in value and is a great fit on the team next year. But if you're going to sell now is arguably the best time.
Which is why they would be getting a supposed #2C in retained Pettersson back as part of the (much bigger) package. Again, depends on the risk appetite on someone like EP but it certainly isn't difficult to fathom. But I agree that a big blockbuster trade like that isn't likely to happen, they...
What's more realistic, Knies being moved or McDavid signing here? I'm not advocating moving Knies and I'm perfectly on board with keeping him, but there are some intriguing targets and scenarios out there.
This could be cleaner if VAN wants to blow their brains out on Knies. But they'd have to be OK with 50% retention. So instead we pick #1 and #3 and let SJ take Stenberg.
If Chayka is truly a BPA guy, plus the Mats connection, I wouldn't be surprised if they took Stenberg at 2. It would actually be an incredible storyline, the entity known as Chundin with the double headed top 2 picks matching their nationalities.
