Around the League 2019-2026 Edition

Ottawa got him for a 3rd and 6th. I hope Carlo is worth more than that considering what we paid. I don’t know enough about his game style but I would like clear cut upgrades to the defense.

I hope we’re able to find a team that over values Carlo. And it’d be nice to find some upgrades off the scrap heap for cheap. Would be nice to be the team that finally makes some smart decisions.

That’s a lot of work to get done in one offseason. We need an overhaul.

Maybe but our Blueline sucked last year. The pre season Doms though it was meh at best and it performed like one of the worst in the league. If that's not an excuse to tear it the fuck down and rebuild I don't know what is.

He's got McCabe slotted in on the left side of the second pair, which is where, ideally, he should be. And the third-pair is also ideally where Tanev and OEL should be at this stage of their careers.

Though making the necessary additions to accomplish that in one summer will be a herculean task.

OEL was far far far better than a 3rd pair D this year (and sweden's #1 at the WC) and McCabe-Tanev were the best shutdown pair in hockey last time we saw them, in insane usage.

Feel free to check out the 3rd pair dmen on the two cup finalists at the moment.
 
If McCabe is slotted on our 2nd pair we’re probably in a real good spot with the defense. OEL - Tanev as a bottom pair is as ideal as it gets in terms of depth. It’s definitely a big ask to acquire 3 defenseman better or equal to McCabe for those top 4 spots in one offseason.

Yeah, people confuse the all time shit performance of our four bottom guys as being representative of the whole. Our good guys, minus the shit guys, plus two UFAs and Danford and it suddenly might be one of the best corps in the league. In just a few weeks.
