2026 Hurricanes Off Season Thread

Following Walker and Staal, Jarvis took Stanley to a children’s hospital. Then he brought it to a community center where fans started lining up at 5:30. He also brought it outside to show fans they couldn’t get in.

Martinook is ip today, then who knows. Presumably Stankoven will have his day in Kamloops but British Columbia is on fire, although Kamloops is safe for now.

I will be interested to see what our Russian trio does on their Cup days since they cannot take the Cup to Russia.

Stankoven after Martinook seems the logical progression...then who else hasn't had it yet? Slavin (Aug 22?) Chatty? Bussi? Eric Robinson (Aug 20) And then the 3 Russians? Is that it?
 
Stankoven is really the only western Canadian swing for the Cup visits. So knocking that out after they get the rest of the Canadian guys done makes sense. Slavin is Raleigh-based and I’d guess the Russian guys may do their days here as well since they can’t do those at home, so maybe those four will be the last in the rotation … after the guys start to show for pre-camp workouts.

I know what you mean, some are just way too loud and over the top, but it seems like many of the styles have already made it to the clearance racks and have died a slow death. Some of the best Canes Cup swag I have seen is made by Johnnie O, but boy oh boy does the sticker price sting on some of their stuff.

They really need to put someone else in charge of their merchandise in general. Everything doesn’t have to be blingy.

I got the one with all of the players' names and numbers on the black jerseys on the back of it.

Got it right away, figuring that if anything the graphics were gonna get worse over time instead of better. Or they'd go out of stock, like some of the All-Star Game jersey designs that I actually liked.

Looking at fan wear across the board this year, we seem to be in a 70s throwback era in terms of graphics. That’s all well and good, but Championship gear is different. That’s something you want to keep, not a disposable item that you wear for a year or two.

A ton of that is driven by what’s available. I find myself looking for something that’s not that bad when a simple red Hurricanes on a grey heather cotton champion sweatshirt would be fantastic and would sell. They’re missing out on the basics. Seems like easy money. I know I’m not the only one that feels this way and some of the others are much younger than me. We don’t need to look like gangster rap Canes fans.
 
Yeah, I broke down and bought a quarter zip with the basic championship logo on the breast when I got tired of waiting for something better. Just I also bought that terrible Fanatics locker room hat because there was nothing better available. Their hats fit somebody’s head, surely … but not mine.
 
Another Russian to keep company with Ruslan Khazheyev, Yegor Valmakin, Igor Ryabkin, Viktor Neuchev and Gleb Trikozov.

BUT, hold on, because until he is actually signed, he is simply on the Canes reserve list. As andyt noted, Sardarian is eligible to be become an NHL UFA (as of this past Saturday) but he hasn't yet filed the necessary paperwork with the NHL. He could file that paperwork at any time.

So the Canes bought themselves who knows how many days (hours?) to exclusively try to convince Sardarian to sign an entry level deal with us. I don't know why he would sign with us rather than filing his paperwork and opening up the entire NHL as possible landing destinations.

We could execute the same maneuver with 2022 draftee Cruz Lucius. His rights were sent to the Pens in the Guentzel trade. He played 2 years at Wisconsin then transferred to Arizona State for 2 more years but didn’t sign a contract. He was a point per game player in all but his junior year at ASU.
