OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Vlad is obviously the biggest problem, but this team is a bunch of slap hitters and complete zeros on offense.

No SLG whatsoever, and when the grounders don't find holes, we are really fucking bad and can lose to anyone.

Other than Bateman seemingly, they're all capable of hitting doubles and homers...they just aren't this year for some reason.

Okamoto is the only legit power threat all season, but Kirk, Lukes, Springer can all homer, and even Clement and Gimmy can hit some. It always keeps coming back to Vladdy and his 8 HRs, which is the most confounding thing I have ever seen in half a century of following this team.

Okamoto is good, so is Kirk, but i wouldnt call him a huge slug guy

Lukes, no, Springer is cooked, Clement and Gimmy appear to be bad offensive players.

Vlad is the low hanging fruit and obvious largest problem, but the supporting cast needs work.

Lukes and Springer have still provided 15ish+ homers in non-everyday time. Clement and Gimmy are good for 10-15.

Not sure what you're expecting, that everyone hit 30+?

We're missing Real Vladdy and Barger, who each should have provided 25+ in a bad year. Now 25 seems like an MVP output for Vlad.

15 isnt even good for a guy like Springer, he's a fuckign DH

Gimmy is a bottom 10 OPS in the game, he's shit offensively
Clement chases everything, offers no slug, never walks and is a bad glove now, he's been the worse 2B in baseball since July 1. He's a bench bat on a serious team.
I like Lukes, but he's not a power hitter.

Ragging on Vlad is fair, but its a crutch for people who don't want to admit that alot of this supporting cast isnt very good.

We were very fortunate that Cleveland and Texas lost, but it's still gross not gaining a game and losing 2/3 to Sacramentio with Cease/Soriano going, and the pen did a good job today too.

The point is, it's not like we actually have no power.

Real Vladdy should be 40+
Okamoto is 30+
Kirk is probably 20-25
Barger should've been good for 25
Springer healthy was easily 20
Lukes if everyday is 15-20
Clement, Gimmy 10-15

Injuries, disappearing acts, and bad luck resulted in a power shortage.

Vlad has hit more than 32 once in his career. Kirk has never hit more than 15. Lukes can't hit lefties, so he'll never be an "everyday" guy.
A good chunk of our team are more valuable as platoon bats, and almost all of them come from the LH side.

None of Lukes, Gimenez, Barger, Ernie should face their same side P counterparts if you can help it.

Now, Gimmy, provides a glove to where if your offense is clicking, you probably just play him everyday and don't care.

Barger, Lukes, Sanchez, and Pinango are all LHH OF that cannot and should not face LHP, this is a roster problem that has to be addressed in the offseason.

Clement should probably only face LHP, and RHP sparingly as a super sub.

Straw is a fine defender/baserunner/vibes guy, but the amount of times he's taken key PA this year is fucking shocking.

Kirk, Okamoto, Vlad, Bateman are everyday guys, for better or worse

Springer is probably cooked due to age/injury/both and either needs to be replaced by Santander, or both need to be replaced. Neither one is an ideal bench bat.
