Assuming Yakupov isn't available; the rest are: who is YOUR pick at #3 for the Habs?

Re: 2012 Draft... who do you want?

I read somewhere that we now have two second rounders in the upcoming draft ?

Even if we can't trade to move up and draft top 5, i'm still happy with drafting twice in the second round..that's when we do our best drafting....

Re: 2012 Draft... who do you want?

Did you miss the Gill trade? :p

No I somehow thought that the Gill trade gave us back our only second rounder...

For some reason, I thought we didn't have a second rounder left.....i'm so used to our GM trading away second rounders...it just sank in that we have 2 now...lol

Re: 2012 Draft... who do you want?

Galchenyuk would be nice.

Just in case some people don't people know, Galchenyuk was born in Milwaukee and is about as Russian as Scott Gomez is Mexican.

:lol Does Gomez speak Spanish? Galchenyuk as you said is first generation American. He is the one who has been teaching Yakupov English.

Re: 2012 Draft... who do you want?

Another article came out yesterday saying how Gaunce was a good ''two-way player''....please let us not pick him...we have enough of these 2-way players...he'd be a better fit on a team that already has a good franchise center

Re: 2012 Draft... who do you want?

I know you all will say Yakupov is the best and I won't argue but I am sure Rolex will be on suicide watch if after years of us wanting a top big centre, have a chance at one and we end up taking a small winger.

The only way we take a small winger over a center is if we are picking 1st......otherwise, Yakupov won't be available anymore.....

Re: 2012 Draft... who do you want?

If we pick Gaunce, I don't wanna hear anyone bitch when we say in 5 years that he's a good 2nd-3rd line center....I'd rather we pick one of the dmen...everything I read says that Gaunce won't be a first line center, and some articles even say the knock on him is his offensive game going into the pros

but if we are first, will you slash your wrists if we take a small winger over a big centre?

Re: 2012 Draft... who do you want?

I guess the Habs should stop winnin for McKinnon in 2013...

From what I have read, McKinnon is the real prize. Kid is supposed to be something else. Ironic that they had a lockout the year Crosby got selected and we may have another one the year McKinnon comes out.

Yakupov is ''supposed'' to be the only real sure thing in the upcoming draft

But if we are picking 5-7th, we would be reaching if we took Gaunce that high

Re: 2012 Draft... who do you want?

Strong possibility Galchenyuk will be there at 5 or 6.

Oh yeah, McKinnon is great. He's not Crosby great, but he's not far off. He's a superstar in the making.

The 2013 draft top-5 is ****ing insane. Seth Jones, Sean Monahan, Alexandr Bairkov & Hunter Shinkaruk are all incredibly skilled.

Re: 2012 Draft... who do you want?

Baring some sort of injury or setback, it's a given that Yaku-Grigger go 1-2....

After that, it's anyone's guess between Murray, Dumba, Reilly, Forsberg, Galchenyuk, Trouba

I agree with everything you say....

However, i've been very hesitant through the years to believe all the hype about prospects....remember when Tavares was 16 and people were saying he's the next superstar that will burn the league...well he's a great player, but he's not ''Crosby'' or ''Malkin'' great....remember how people were salivating at Esposito and were saying he's a sure top pick...by his second junior season he dropped in the rankings...I remember people saying Kessel is a no-brainer top pick.....his stock dropped from January to June draft day...he got picked 5th finally...

I agree that McKinnon is said to be a ''sure'' future superstar, but i'll wait until he completes his junior years before saying he's the next big thing

The funniest thing in all this is that people were overlooking the 2007 draft saying it was weak compared to the 2008 one (Tavares)....Some even said that Tampa would have been better to suck the following year to get Tavares instead of this year and get Stamkos

The 2007 draft was ended up being one of the best top 10 in recent years....Stamkos and all those stud dmen....sometimes you can't overlook a draft because people say it's a weak one

Really hoping Halifax gets the 2013 Top Prospects Game as has been rumored the past few days.

Three "hometown" boys -- MacKinnon (C), Drouin (LW) and Fucale (G) -- should be there.
