I don't think it's rape per se, because I don't but Corey Perry as a premium asset any more. He's turning 31 in the spring, he's no longer the super elite, 280 shot a year beast he was in his mid 20's...he's settled in, imo in the .9-.95 range going forward. More name value than roster value, truth be told.

Muzzin, as usual, is an overlooked piece in this trade....the most valuable piece in this deal. I don't love buying high on Zucc (who is more of a .85 midget who any decline would quickly make useless, but he should be okay for a few more years than a .95 impacty type winger like he's been this year), and Halak (another midget whose career walks a tight rope where any decline is basically the end of him)...but Muzzin isn't a bad centrepiece here for him.

The trade is definitely better on analysis than it looks at first.

Malkin is another guy who has a bunch more name brand value than real value imo. 13th ranked winger in our format...which is an excellent asset, but not the elite one that the name value would suggest.

I don't get this trade at all for Jonas...looks like someone dangled something shiny in front of him and he went nuts for it. For a guy trying to win now, he sure traded away a lot of the pieces that would help him do it. A few of his old boys fall off and all of a sudden he's going to be sitting in 7th next year wondering what happened...but at least he'll have Jamie Benn, right?

That's what I was thinking. It almost looks like Jonas thought that he was the one giving Benn and Green for that package.
