I always prefer acquiring a bat over a SP, but it's David ****ing Price so I have a hard time finding fault. I think it's a excellent deal considering both team's needs.

If Carpenter has a season like he did in 2015, it's legit. But his power in 2015 could be a big time outlier and his slugging and iso could go back into being below average. I'd be worried about that. Who knows tho! #cantpredictball

Carpenter was also a 2.2 fppg player 3 years ago. I'm banking on 2+ is his norm for the next few years. That's a really good 3B.

Thing with Carpenter in this format is that he does other things so well, that he doesn't necessarily need the HR's to be valuable....in 2013 for instance he only his 10 HR, yet was a 2.2 FPPG player.


The fact he produces fairly consistently in various categories....be it runs, walks, doubles or HR's....means for the most part he's been pretty elite over the last 3 seasons, now.

I'd just be worried he'd turn back to 2014 Carpenter, who slugged .375 and averaged 1.8 and had 285 total.

Price in 2014 was 12.07 and 410 total.
