2017-18 Miscellaneous Canes News Thread

I am surprised print papers are still around but I guess they still have older readers. They even still run full page ads in the N&O which I assume are much cheaper now than in the past. Classifieds were big money makers but that's all gone to craigslist and similar sites.

I believe some big city papers now only print the paper 3 or 4 days a week but update their website every day.

That's the case with the Times-Picayune in New Orleans. Tom Benson, the Saints owner, had to convince the paper to publish on Mondays (there is a Sunday paper) so the Saints could be covered.
 
in my mid 50s and there's still nothing better than coffee on the porch on a Saturday morning while reading a real newspaper. Have done the digital subscription to N&O also but just don't like reading it that way. Oh well, is what it is, I guess.

If the Panthers play a night game on Sunday the N&O paper version does not have the game since they print around 6 PM.

I would think DeCock will be at the paper until the lights are turned off if he wants to be. After that he probably can get another job easily. And he probably got a pay boost to stick around.

Edmonton, Buffalo, Toronto and Boston. Wow. He's been hanging around the message boards again, hasn't he? NHL punditry 101 ... keep enough options on the table and you'll be right more often.

Look. The only reason to trade for Faulk is that you have an immediate need (Edmonton, Boston and Toronto badly needs a right sider) or you're betting on a big bounce back from him (pretty much anyone else). Carolina doesn't HAVE to move the guy, so they CAN be patient and wait for the right return. That kind of takes Edmonton out since aside from RNH and a couple of guys they aren't ever trading they don't have a heck of a lot that helps Carolina. The Faulk for Kadri rumors have been floating around since before the draft, so Toronto seems a good possibility. Boston? Man, I dunno. They've got issues on the blue lien, but mostly in areas where Faulk doesn't help you. Plus, if Carolina is looking for a center who isn't already old and broken down ... umm. Not happening.

Personally, Toronto makes sense as a fit. But that's been the case for a WHILE and they usually aren't gun shy about moves.

I'll say this though .... they moved Skinner for a pile of rubbish one day after I convinced myself they were being patient for the "right move," so I've given up being surprised by whatever our front office does when it comes to getting rid of a player they want gone.

My sentiments exactly JB...as much as I tell myself no way can a Faulk trade be as bad as the Skinner deal, I realize somehow Waddell and company may be able to pull that off.

The other side of that coin is the trade with Calgary when Waddell got good value for Lindholm and Hanifin. Thus ... I'm not predicting ANYTHING. I just hope we end up making some sort of deal for a decent center at some point.
 
back to only 3 events at PNC during the state fair. Nicki Minaj's entire tour was canceled, the ticket sales were bad all over. Only sold 5k tickets in Brooklyn for example much less in other cities.

I've never heard that Raise Up song. My GF thought that was impossible. But honestly I have no clue.
