Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic "other teams have now increased their interest in trying and add the offensive-minded Faulk. Those teams include ones that would not require Faulk to waive his 15-team no-trade clause, though LeBrun doesn’t give any indication of who they may be. "

It would be interesting to know who those 15 teams are beyond Anaheim. Did he include ALL California teams? All of the Canada teams? Was the list mostly influenced by taxes to avoid losing a bigger chunk of his salary this season?

"Budding elite goal scorer Ondrej Kase?" says that article. That's a bit much I think?
I dunno, man. Pretty much all of the analytics guys are convinced that Kase is going to be a proper goal scorer once he breaks out. Me ... I just wait and see.

Some rumor-level stuff indicates that Faulk included all the west coast teams on his exclusion list. From there ... who knows? Those things change year to year as well.

Probably. But in his last 2 (injury plagued) NHL season, he averaged 26 goals per 82 games. But he’s only played 96 games over those 2 seasons.

The Canes already got pinched on the limited no trade/no move clause stuff with Skinner and it hurt the return coming back, so here we are again playing the same game with Faulk. I'd rather the Canes hold onto Faulk for a bit and not just settle like they did with Skinner and the (Pu) return...

Dealing for a player who has had several injuries is a big concern, no doubt. But I remember thinking the same thing about Justin Williams when he played for us the first time around. I was worried about his injuries and look what happened - he turned into a remarkably healthy player as time went on.

This is where I hate this kind of rumor/trade chatter. You've got a player that is obviously liked by his coaches, his teammates and many fans. He was given a MNTC by the previous management. It was part of his contract and both sides are bound to it. Now all these rumors are circulating and the question is-- how does that impact a guy going into camp? A guy who is now getting pressure to agree to a trade he may not want? I always think these are pretty damned if you do/damned if you don't scenarios and the only one with pressure is the guy with the MNTC. JR never really put a guy in the hot box the way this management team does, as I recall-- with the exception of Irbe. Seems there is a lot of scuttlebutt about the Canes since Waddell took over and sometimes getting boxed in by being so open.

It does put Faulk in an awkward position heading to camp for sure and certainly not a good way for the guy to get excited about the season ahead, it's also a distraction for the team, I get the business part of it, but the more it lingers on the bigger distraction it becomes for everyone.

If the Ducks are on his list, he could put a stop to all this pretty quickly. He obviously knows what's going on. If he wanted to shut it down he could just tell management (or the press) that he's not waiving his NTC. He doesn't even have to pin it on the Ducks. He can just say he likes it here and is exercising his right to stay if he can. Done. No more Duck talk. Therefore, I have to think that he's open to going to the Ducks if a deal can be worked out.

At the same time you have the expiring contract and any extension discussions up to now. They seemingly are not in agreement, which is not surprising considering the contracts they have elsewhere on D. So for the team to maximize their value for him how else can they approach it? The fact that he wants x and the Canes are not willing to pay that is already a distraction inside the organization. Makes him feel he’s not valued highly enough by the team. And to be fair he’s about our 4th or 5th best defenseman. He’s not going to get more than those guys here.

The guy is taking his time and seeing what he can negotiate ... like a pro. And I'm certain he'll handle his business this season like a pro no matter where he ends up. Sometimes fans get caught up in these dramas like everybody involved is some sort of hot house flower. They generally aren't, especially when they've been around the block for a while.

Regarding Puljujarvi, I'm reading that the Oilers had talks with both the Canes and the Bolts. Not sure if it is true and accurate, but apparently the Oilers want Gauthier + Foegele and a 2nd round pick in 2020. Like...no. I also read that the pick was the sticking point. I kind already think that Gauthier and Foegele is overpaying for Jesse... then again.... he's huge and seems to be on the right track. Him starting off well in Finland is enticingly a good start....

That's an absurd ask by the Oilers for a guy that still may turn out to be a complete bust. Good luck with that Holland.

That rumor is also circulating as "Gauthier and a 2nd round pick for Puljujarvi" ... with the Canes balking at the pick. That makes way more sense.

A 3rd rounder plus Gauthier maybe ... not a 2nd. Not for that guy. And not with Foegele included in the deal in any way.
