2019-Whenever Misc. Grab Bag Thread

Bridget Condon from WTVD tweeted that Duke/State will no be played and the rest of the tournament cancelled. But FSU/Clemson might be played?

 
Luke DeCock tweeted that FSU has left the floor, Clemson never came out. It’s over.
 
I guess since FSU is the regular season champ they would get the trophy since it's already been made , might as well give it out

edit - FSU will get the trophy today.
 
PAC 12 and Big 12 have cancelled too. Big East is proceeding but the Knicks have been asked to self-quarantine because the Jazz were there last week.
 
Curious about the timing of all that at the ACC ... but it's looking more and more like there won't be an NCAA tournament this year, at which point there simply isn't a legit argument to keep playing in Greensboro. Let everybody go home and handle their own business.
 


If you play the whole rest of the season and full playoffs that is what, a 6 week delay possibly that would have you wrapping up end of July.

Nothing like that will be decided anytime soon, but its interesting to think about how this plays out if this health crisis ends.

The USL (both flights) has followed MLS, suspending play for a minimum of 30 days. Impacts NCFC, obviously.
 
Playing the entire remainder of the regular season is doubtful no matter how you slice it. The message from the NHL is likely going to be a week to week scenario...so with each passing week, the situation changes. If the health risk improves, you would think at that time they figure it out from that point onward. What that might look like is anyone's guess, but you have at least have hope that things improve on the health front.
 
The Big East cancelled at halftime of the St. John’s/Creighton. CUSA has also canceled
 
Ken Rosenthal from Fox Sports tweeted that an announcement is expected shortly that MLB is suspending operations.
 
Steve Wiseman and Luke DeCock from the NandO now confirming speculation that Duke basically pulled the plug on the ACC Tourney by refusing to show. Duke's President basically said that he wasn't going to allow the men's basketball team to be excluded from the university's decision to shut down all athletic competition for the spring semester.

Which is fine, honestly. No reason to roast Duke over this. If there's sufficient reason to shut down the other sports, I fail to see any reason that basketball should be treated differently other than corporate sponsorship and TV money. And that's not a good enough reason.
 
Adam Schefter tweeted that Duke will not participate in the NCAA tournament if it’s held.
 
And Duke cancelled the local train project again just for the hell of it! :) non local people can google that.

Sadly I think nail salons will probably be hit hard since that is a luxury and it is close contact. Same for hair salons , people might delay those visits too.

Andrew Cuomo shut down Broadway theaters effective immediately. No gatherings of more than 500 people and that can only be 50% capacity.
 
In case anyone was wondering ... the NCHSAA has cancelled basketball championships in high school as well. Spring sports are suspended indefinitely. Pretty sure the Independents will follow suit
