2019-Whenever Misc. Grab Bag Thread

if they tried to shut down FB in places like Alabama, Texas, Miss, etc the fans would probably burn the state down.

The ACC suspended all spring football activities. Michigan, Ohio St., Notre Dame and USC cancelled their spring games. I’m sure there are others too.

ACC suspended all sports not just spring FB. Also no practices and recruiting for all sports. I assume phone and email recruiting is OK.

Yup. My daughter was so stoked by the tix. Have heard a lot of great things about Saving Grace BTW from friends that volunteer there.
Saving Grace is the rescue outfit that partners with the Hurricanes for those dog adoption games every season. That's how we first ran into them. My daughter adopted a good boi from there (Gus) and does a bit of volunteer work. They're really nice folks doing really good work.

Disney World is closing on Sunday, until the end of the month.
Yeah ... Universal has closed their parks as well. Same time frame ... for now. I expect the dates could well be extended into April. Disney Cruise Line is suspending sailings that depart between the 13th and the end of March as well.

Now ... pardon me, but I'm going to be REALLY busy for the next two days and then not busy at ALL for at least a month.

Saving Grace is great, but we ended up getting our sweet li'l JiJi (named after a cartoon cat) from Pawfect Match because when we met our girl, she chose our daughter. That was all that was needed.

Yep, when you go to a place like that, they adopt you. Happens every time.

It looks like the Bundesliga is the only sports game in town. And their TV package stinks, until they get to ESPN+ next year. There are 5 matches tomorrow, 3 on TV. But 2 are on Fox Soccer Plus, the other on Univision.

If you want to try and be an optimist in all of this mess, once everything does ramp back up...it could very well be the most exciting sports time of year in the history of time!

That's how it works with dogs. They pick you, not the other way around.

Yeah ... could well be. But I kind of hope that we enjoy it more, while caring about it less ... if that makes sense. I just hope we all gain some perspective from all of the things we're being forced by this pandemic to do, and not to do.

An interesting tweet from Eric Tulsky about Covid-19. He is a stats geek, after all.

Globetrotters PNC game Sunday is postponed.

Wake and Orange counties have a state of emergency now which seems a bit silly when the whole state already did that. Maybe they did it to get federal money. And Wake has still not closed schools , what are they waiting for?

Dreamville concert moved to August

The Devils, Ducks and Caps owners have committed to paying arena worker’s salaries, including game day staff, through March 31. The Devils and Ducks don’t share their arena but the Caps share with the Wizards. AOL Ted owns both though.

NCAA giving kids in spring sports an extra year of eligibility. It might cause problems with scholarship limits if seniors decide to stay the extra year because they will also be adding freshmen. BB and baseball are included in this. they might do it for winter sports too.

Sergei Bobrovsky is putting up $100k of his own money to pay Panthers' arena workers during the hiatus. His teammates are matching, and management will provide the rest to make sure arena staff gets paid. (Can I make an attendance joke yet, JB?)
