I took the kid up to Asheville this past Saturday for the Acid Bath show at Hellbender, the newest outdoor amphitheater that in that fine city. It's a fine venue with a fair amount of trees at the back and along merch/food truck row to provide shade on a hot, sunny day. Not quite enough bathrooms, but at my age, no venue has enough bathrooms for my convenience. The sound was good enough, but again, at my age, everything sounds OK to me since I'm not deaf yet.
If you ever buy tickets to see a band there, here's my two words of advice for arriving and leaving the venue: BE PATIENT. Seriously, it's kind of a shitshow getting in and out since the surrounding streets can't really handle that much traffic. Even taking an Uber from a nearby hotel took an eternity. There's no need to complain because it is what it is, just plan for the long ass time that you will be spending in the car getting in and out. Just be patient.
Oh yeah, Asheville makes the venue shut the music off at 10pm, so you'll have plenty of nightlife remaining in Asheville *once you get out of the traffic trap*. Apparently Dinosaur Jr was in the middle of a song when the PA just got shut down. LOL
