Yeah, look. That defense still sucks which means they just aren't going to win games when they make multiple mistakes on offense. If they just claw themselves into something like a .500 record, it will be a successful season

Try being a Saints fan—this will be a very, very long season. But you Panthers fans will look so good at least twice this year

Week 1 is a tire fire for most teams in the NFL. It really exposes what a team did not really work on very much during the shortened preseason. I normally withhold real judgement on my teams until October. And thank goodness for that policy because both the Panthers and Lions sucked ass yesterday. I'm still really effing salty over the Panthers trading away Young's safety valve when he's obviously still developing his QB chops.

This all not to say that I still don't have immediate kneejerk reactions. Lord knows that I still have more than enough of those while watching a game, but real judgement won't happen until October.

Correct. You can pretty much go to the bank on the possibility that the Chiefs offense won't look as bad as they did in Week 1 by the end of September. Just for one example.

That said, I'm pretty sure Carolina's defense IS that bad.

At least the Saints have a Super Bowl trophy in their history. That's something. Carolina has 2 Losses in the Big Game on their resume. The Panthers are going to suck hard this season. Until David Tepper learns to keep his mitts off the team and let the GM actually Manage and the Coaches actually Coach, this is going to be Cowboys 2.0 the way I see it. Am I wrong?
