2019-Whenever Misc. Grab Bag Thread

You got a good coach now you just need to cut bait with Caleb Williams in my opinion. Never been a fan
I agree. Want to give him the benefit of the doubt but he’s not my favorite and he’s also not looking like he’ll be a good NFL QB.

I do think we have a good coach though.

Just switch to the packers.
I’ve considered that. With the thought that maybe it was my fanship that has cursed the Bears and I could carry that over to GB wreak havoc on the Packers hopes and dreams. I handle the Bearfan misery much better when the Packers suck.

My niece’s husband is a Ravens fan. Every season he and some buddies pick a Ravens road game to go to. This year, they picked the game against the Packers. At Lambeau. On December 28. Godspeed.

As difficult is this is to admit as a Vikings fan, every football fan should experience a game at Lambeau. I did so in 2009 when Brett Favre played his first game in Green Bay as the Vikings quarterback (a Vikings win, I should add!) and lucked into a sunny, relatively warm November afternoon. Your niece's husband and his buddies may not be as lucky with the weather on December 28th, but I hope they enjoy the Lambeau experience as seen the Ravens win!

My grand daughter, college sophomore, asked me, at the urging of her grandmother, ex-wife, where and what was lambeau field? Don’t they teach that in school?

I have a story you might appreciate.
Years ago, my old boss told me a football camp story of his. He was a linebacker in h/s and at NC State late 60's/early 70s. In h/s he was at a camp and a roommate decided he had it in for my old boss. Said he was going to injure or kill him. So, my old boss sets up a trap to catch said roomie. I think he rigged a bucket of water to fall on him when the door opened. He waited up, the door opened, and the bucket fell. Right on to Ray Nitschke's head! I'm sure hilarity ensued.

lol, great story, lucky he’s walking.

Wake/State is always a mess, especially in Winston. The food truck fire was a nice touch though.
I saw that on espn this morning. They did a whole joke tela-strator thing. It was pretty funny.

State/Wake is always a weird game. I covered so many games in that stadium it still always cracks me up when they play Carolina or State 70% of the stadium are Carolina or State fans. Wake does incredibly well for the ‘support’ they get.

I was at UNC Charlotte last week covering the game and that place is a glorified high school stadium. It’s pitiful. Half the press box was outdoors. I did like that part of campus, but the stadium needs work for them to move up in the college football world.

Wake may be tiny, but they're well funded ... which makes up for a variety of deficiencies. And while State and UNC show up there, when they bring App State into that stadium, it's like a freaking home game at the Rock.

And yeah, I've seen Richardson Stadium in Charlotte. It's got fancy Texas high school vibes, for sure. It's built to be easily expanded, should they ever figure out how to run a college football program. At least they didn't build the Taj Ma-football and then hire Biff freaking Poggi to coach their team. That would have been even more embarrassing. FWIW, Tim Albin knows what he's doing, so if they can fund him then they should at least be solid after a couple of years.

Yea. Charlotte is already building a new tower with luxury suites and a new press box. But, it was my first time shooting there and I was shocked at how pedestrian it was. The press box at Navy was awful, but in a Wrigley/Fenway 1940 charming kind of way.

State and Duke did a nice job with theirs and when Carolina breaks ground on their new tower eventually, it will be nice. I also like Virginia Tech. Funny thing about VT. Last game I covered there they fed the media turkey. They fed us their freaking mascot. Hopefully State doesn’t start feeding us wolf burgers.
