Surreal! I can't even describe how I/we feel. Just awful for his wife, kids, folks and all who knew him.
Cripes ... and it's not like Villa haven't actually tried to be compliant. But if you're actually trying to compete and don't have the luxury of multiple years' worth of Champions League checks in the drawer I no longer see how you can sustainably get better and still comply with FFP.Aston Villa and Chelsea have agreed to fines issued by UEFA for breaching Financial Fair Paly rules. Villa were fined €26 million and Chelsea were fined €31 million, which could rise to €91 million if certain conditions aren’t met over the next 4 years.

I've got a work friend who lives quite close to Dag and Red's stadium. His family have supported the club since they were founded in the 90s and are HIGHLY amused that they've somehow hit the radar of the Gulf oil money crowd. He said his Dad thinks it must be a consortium of the broke black sheep sons of wealthy families because it's not like there's any prestige to be found at the club. Their high water mark was a short stint in League One highlighted by a match fixing scandal and their supporters are pretty much 100% neighborhood people who can't be bothered to catch the tube to see West Ham now that they moved to the Olympic stadiumAndy Carroll is back in England. He signed with 6th tier Dagenham & Redbridge and is also a minority owner. The club was just purchased by a consortium of Qatari private investors. He played the last 2 seasons in France, first for Ligue 2 Amiens, then for 4th tier Bordeaux.
