A very funny thing happened today.
Out of nowhere, I get a text from a friend who said that Bomani Jones just dropped my name during a guest appearance on The Fan this afternoon. He was citing a discussion he and I had over 15 years ago (when he still lived in the area) about whether or not the Triangle would ever embrace hockey. I have not talked or communicated with Bomani since then, so this came out of the blue!

Kinda worried about the Hurricane's powerplay these days. There's just not much movement and opposing teams have figured out how to defend against it. The Hurricanes didn't convert on a 5 on 3 and didn't threaten nearly as much as I imagined & hoped they might. Shesterkin has played really well and they don't need to give the Rangers the chance to gain confidence. Some opportune powerplay goals could be back breakers now.

Meh. They've sucked on 5 on 3s for 2 solid seasons now, so that's nothing new. And I thought the power play actually looked pretty good in Game 2. I'll worry about one they actually trail in a series

If we had won yesterday and Anderson seems ready for tomorrow up 3-0 then maybe. Seems like you’re asking for trouble if Freddie lays an egg and you come back to Raanta at 2-2 hoping he can pick up where he left off especially since he needs to allow one or less for us to win.

I would not have even started Freddie at 3-0. Even then, hopefully sweep and use the time off to get Freddie ready. At this point, the only time I'd put him into game action is if Raanta gets hurt, or we're winning or losing by a wide margin, like 4 goals with 10 minutes left. Other than that, it's Raanta's crease until Raanta shows otherwise.
That needed to happen. Turbo has been badly out of synch on the first unit after giving them a bit of a boost against Boston. One assumes you shift Nino into the bumper and put Aho on the half wall where Turbo has been. That could work, maybe. At this point, I'd probably be happier if they just swapped DeAngelo and Slavin and called PP2 the first unit. Let Aho and Trocheck get out of their own heads on the 2nd unit, because they've both been terrible on the power play this series and that unit cannot take both of them being out of sorts.
