It didn’t say it was termination waivers, so I guess they’re sending him to Hartford? He has a $4.8 million cap hit, so they’ll still have to absorb $3.8 million if they do send him down or put him on the taxi squad.

That seems like the off ice activity of DeAngelo finally caught up to him and the Rags have had enough. Quinn’s quote in the NY Post:
“It’s a decision we made as an organization,” Quinn said Sunday after practice. “In 24 hours, we’ll be able to probably be a little bit more specific and address the situation differently.”
I’ve seen quite a few Twitter and Facebook comments to the news...”DeAngelo will make waivers great again”...

All that being the case, its sounds like Tony DeAngelo isn't even going to the taxi squad then. Barring someone trading for him (who would want him at a $4.8 million cap hit?) it sounds like its Hartford and then a buyout.
The Rangers are somewhat in luck. A buyout of that final season of DeAngelo's contract would only be at 1/3 since he will be 25 (which is the age cutoff for the 1/3 value buyout) when the offseason buyout period comes around.
A buyout will only cost $883,333 for 2 years with cap hits of $383,333 and $883,333. Way better than his $5.3 million salary they were due to pay him next season.

Leon Draisaitl had himself a game, registering 6 assists as the Oilers beat Ottawa 8-5. He didn’t have a single shot on goal and only attempted 1 shot. McDavid added a goal and 4 assists. The last 6 assist game in the league was nearly 24 years ago, 2/26/97 by Eric Lindros. One of the assists was a PP goal scored by Brind’Amour.
And they’re worst in the league in goals against per game, more than 1 goal worse than Anaheim.
The league leaders in goals against per game? Your Carolina Hurricanes at 1.67, the only team allowing fewer than 2 goals per game.
Apparently the altercation with Georgiev has been confirmed while the alleged altercation and/or friction with Miller seems to be imaginary or exaggerated. When you're a big enough toolbag that people immediately assume you can't get along with minority teammates, you might want to do something about that ... just sayin.
I watched some of that. It looked like an NBA All Star Game or the last 5 minutes of a Harlem Globetrotters game. The defense wasn't optional so much as it was fictional. Even this short season is gonna be LONG for the Sens.
Wasn’t he on the ice for all 5 goals against? He was -3. Doesn’t he regularly get made to look foolish defensively? But the goalie is the problem. Yeah that’s it.
Look ... asking for logic from a Neanderthal like Tony D is probably taking it several steps too far.

Last I heard was that Kreider chucked some knuckles in Tony's direction in defense of the goalie... good on 'im if true.
They aren't cutting him and nobody's trading for the idiot. They'll just park him on the taxi squad and buy him out after the season.

Or they could just start putting together the Dirtbag All Stars with Bill Peters behind the bench, DeAngelo and Slava Voynov on D, Brenden Leipsic, and Sean Avery at forward...who else am I forgetting?
Pat Brisson, who is DeAngelo’s agent, told Dreger that he and Rangers GM Jeff Gorton are talking to clubs with trade interest. In the meantime, DeAngelo is sitting at home.
He was available on waivers for free. Why would anyone trade for him?
Salary cap...Most teams couldn't afford him IIRC only 4 teams could have taken his cap and one of those is Detroit... and Yzerman already rid himself of DeAngelo
