2022 Obits

And just a short time ago today (Wednesday, January 12th), singer Ronnie Spector of the Ronettes, died at age 78 following a "brief battle with cancer". She was the ex-wife of the legendary music producer Phil Spector.

January 14th saw the passing of Fred Parris, principal singer in the group The Five Satins and composer of "In the Still of the Nite", one of the most popular R&B songs of the 1950s if not all time. He was 85.

Dallas Frazier was a country singer who had a string of minor country hits that, in other hands, became legendary pop and country staples: "Alley Oop" (Hollywood Argyles), "There Goes My Everything" (Jack Greene), "All I Have to Offer You (Is Me) (Charlie Pride), and "Elvira" (Oak Ridge Boys). He passed away January 14th at the age of 82 of complications from two strokes he'd suffered last year.

Greg Webster, drummer for the legendary R&B group Ohio Players (and apparently the last remaining original member of the group) passed away on January 14th of unknown causes. He was 84. Their hits included "Fire", "Skin Tight" and "Love Rollercoaster" (the latter covered famously by Red Hot Chili Peppers).
