Obvious yes but to go out of your way to say it multiple times? Plus combined with his comments about him being an emotional bitch post series? Not sure. At the very least, he was not convinced that Mitch wanted to return. And why would he be? Guy refused to negotiate all year.
 
Btw get ready for more Mitch being a baby back bitch leaks to come out from the media, once he officially signs for another team. As is tradition for the hometown media when a star player leaves. Mirtle let a lot out already but I bet a lot of the specifics will come out once he's gone. Get your popcorn out.

May be the word currently but when Marner walks and they see they can’t get Bennett, words can change.

Some players prefer to make their money in markets that dont really care because they also dont really care about anything except the money. Mitch is one of those players. As soon as his last regular season paycheque gets deposited, he stops playing.

The league is full of guys who like, but dont necessarily love the game. They play because they're good at it and because nothing else they're good at is anywhere near as lucrative. But not every player has a burning passion for what they do. For some, it really is just a job, not their life.

Mitch is one of those guys.

There are always options either in free agency or by trade. Teams look to move good players they don't want to pay anymore every summer.

With that said, it really does appear that Tavares doesn't want to leave and will take the haircut to stay.
