Two things I heard this weekend:
1) Leafs had little to zero interest in bringing back Marner with a cap hit starting with 12.
2) A lot of team mates were vocal about bringing back JT.....Mitch not so much. That speaks for itself. A lot of the players were not impressed with the dry hair bitching in game 7

What are roys fancy stats? Getting a huge 15 goal two way (im assuming) 3c on a reasonable cap hit would be sweet. Dubas couldn’t even get a 5th for hyman (and then walked away like an idiot from getting a 6th).

i don’t see why they need to move anything of value for Marner. All those guys(Karlsson, Hertl, Roy) have value in separate deals. Why not just make those separate deals and then sign Marner outright leaving the Leafs with nothing?

Historically the return for a players rights is dogshit.

As upsetting it is to help Vegas out here, Roy is a living breathing functional 3LC, which Toronto needs desperately. You take that if its the best offered and move on with a need filled

That makes no sense. A good 3C for free is tangibly better than “revenge” for signing a guy who was never going to resign here.

If the Leafs get a player like Roy it’s because Tre he went full terrorist. There is no value in Vegas doing that from a hockey perspective.

He’s a decent return, but you can still take him and file. Trade doesn’t foreclose filing. Amazing trade negates the desire though.

You have to look at it independently of mitch or his perceived value. its simple. Do we want a 3C or do we want nothing?

The market is pretty thin on C's. I've got no problem with this.

its a better return than people are giving it creidt for considering the run of the mill 6th rounder you normally get for a players rights.

Its also pretty funny to me that the Leafs might file tampering charges for a player they more or less are telling to fuck off anyways.

If you can squeeze a kid out of the deal with the threat, great, if not move on and fill another need.
