Howl. Love the extra playoff experience for these guys
I dint remember if it was Brind’Amour or Waddell that made that comment on the 2 Calder Cups the organization has won since 2018. The only guys on either of those teams left are Chatfield and Kochetkov. But guys like Ned, Necas, Drury and Noesen (although had had played 4 playoff games for the Devils in 2017-18) got to experience deep playoff runs that helped the Canes down the road.

Yup, whether it’s for the Canes or somebody else, there’s nothing like professional playoff experience to refine a player. Mem Cup and NCAAs are good too, but a lot of guys have made a career off of strong Calder Cup runs.

I'm expecting to strike all 3 permanently from our prospect list. Forsmark sealed his fate when he signed an extension with Timra. Juntorp is still playing 3rd tier level hockey in Sweden. Vondras just isn't any good, even playing in a low level Chechia pro league.

Need to make room for more Russians....

Nils Juntorp is about as good as the guys playing for my local team so no loss at all.

Suzuki can't be far away from a spot on the big roster can he?

Replacing whom, exactly? I can’t see him being happy with 4th line duty and he’s always resisted shifting to the wing. With Carolina having shifted to a heavier 4th line setup the last two years, I’m not sure there’s a lot of roster space for any top six kind of prospects next season at all. The entire 12 man forward group aside from Jankowski are locked into reasonable contracts for next season already.

I suspect Suzuki's time with the organization has run its course and that Carolina will look for another big body checking guy for 4th line duty … if they don’t just resign Janko.

I’ve never seen Suzuki as a fit for this system. He seems more finesse than big body who can skate and play RBA hockey. He is not going to supplant any current Cane and he’s been around long enough that he’s had ample opportunity to try and make a case. Now, would he be a better fit in a different org without our depth? Maybe…

Yeah, they’ll be losing him for nothing, but he’s just not a great fit here. He’s not quite physical enough to play a two way game at the NHL level, and pure setup guys tend to get lost in this system. As others have noted, he’s had a couple of chances to make a statement in callups and just never looked the part. Not even close, in fact. I think he could be a middle six player somewhere, but not in Raleigh.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Nadeau. There is no spot in the top 6 for him unless we are moving Hall down, and then that makes Stanoven's line too unphysical.
