2025-26 NHL Miscellaneous Thread

Home opener? Presuming those games in Finland don’t count then I’d guess it’ll be Montreal or Vegas. Either a Finals rematch or a ECF rematch. That’s what they usually do.
The games in Finland are in November, so it won’t be them.

I’m gonna guess Montreal or Florida. But the big question is if we’ll be included in the opening night triple header on ESPN or TNT.

I mean, the Cup winner normally is included … it would be insulting not to do so … therefore Carolina will probably get the last home opener in the league. Hell. they’ll probably make them open at Vegas.

The schedule expands to 84 games next season but there is just a normal All-Star break, not like the 4 Nations or Olympic breaks. The last preseason game is September 26 so I could the season starting the first weekend in October; last season there were 4 days between the last preseason game and opening night. With the State Fair starting on October 15, they’ll have room to get a couple of home games in before the roadie.

Hey, at least some old dude died happy!
Beats the F out of being a Leafs fan, eh?
I was alive when they won their last Cup. Which is also the last time they played in a Stanley Cup Final. And that might be even a worse indictment. They’ve been to 5 conference finals since then, the last in 2002.

Rogers Communications signed a deal to buy the remainjng 25% of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment and now owns 100%. They expect the deal to close by the end of the year. At some point next year, they’re going to combine their existing Sports and Media subsidiary, which includes the Toronto Blue Jays and Rogers Center, into MLSE and sell a minority stake in the combined group.

Gelinas from Vasicek. And Steve Levy’s call on ESPN. “And it is strange, but true. Folks, the Carolina Hurricanes... are going... to the Stanley Cup Final.“
Chuck's call was infinitely better... down to how his voice cracked when he said "Stanley Cup Final," because how was he supposed to know whether he'd ever get to make a call like that again?

And wasn’t that the lowest scoring CF in league history? First team to 2 goals won each game except when the first team to 1 goal won.

Games 1, 2, 3 and 6 were 2-1, only game 1 ended in regulation. Canes won game 4 3-0, Leafs won game 5 1-0.

Rogers also shut down 6 radio stations across Canada yesterday including stations in Vancouver and Calgary that broadcast Canucks and Flames games. They said they’ll move Canucks broadcasts to a different station but will not continue to produce Flames broadcasts. The Flamses said they had no advance warning of the shut down.

Coming right about the same time as Rogers officially taking ownership of the Leafs makes the timing seem super sketchy, even if the finances were driving the changes.
