Apparently Buffalo fans are already wearing bags on their heads and throwing jerseys on the ice after their 0-3-0 start.

If it was up to the fans he'd have floated down the Niagra a long, long time ago. Alas, it's up to his owner who may or may not actually care so long as they don't lose too much money. You hate to see it happen (even in Buffalo) but the fans would be best off voting with their feet and just not buying tickets and coming to games at all.

Bettman was at their home opener and gave his enthusiastic support to Pegula, reminding everyone of how long it took the Bills to turn around after he bought them. Unfortunately, the comparison doesn’t hold, the Bills made the playoffs 3 years after Pegula bought them. He’s owned the Slugs since 2011 and the made the playoffs 2 months after the deal closed but not since.
 
Devils goalie Jacob Markstrom was injured last night and will be out a few weeks per Sheldon Keefe. Nico Daws was recalled from Utica.

I saw that some Sabres fans have been circulating a chart online lately showing the franchise's overall record expressed in wins over .500 (NHL variety) across their history. They started awful and then climbed steadily until peaking at somewhere are +260 ... right before Pegula bought them. As of now, they're back down in the +50 range and trending towards bottoming out in a few years if nothing changes.

Of course Bettman supports him. Pegula supports Bettman and the commissioner doesn't care about anything else, so long as his owners stay out of the tabloids and out of jail. That psycho Melnyk would 100% still own the Senators if he was still alive, no matter that he ground that franchise into a fine powder.
 
In the never ending world of the need for capable third string nhl goalies…LA had to make a trade to get Phoenix Copley back after Kuemper was banged up. Maybe a one slot protected spot for your third stringer is something to think about…
 
I really liked Utah HC. It's not their fault that the TV networks couldn't figure out how to display Utah HC in their chryons and scorebugs. Instead, we would get hit with Hockey Club 3 - Red Wings 1, or something stupid displayed like that.
 
Tusky is a little too close to our GM's name, frankly. Especially for those of us with terrible self-editing skills. As for Utah's name ... I honestly didn't like a single one of the options they threw around so Mammoth is as good as anything else. I mean, is Yeti any better? Nah. And Utah Hockey Club is just too boring, even for Utah.
 
There are multiple reports that Vegas is closing in on signing Carter Hart with 1 report of a 2 year/$1.8 million AAV contract. Starter Adin Hill left their game on Tuesday with a lower body injury.
 
There have been several reports indicating that Hart would be signed "as soon as today" ... since early this week. But now that Hill's possibly on the shelf for a bit, I'd guess Vegas probably go ahead and pull the trigger. All they have behind him is Akira Schmid and some low level prospects.

Another option just left the table, as LA traded to get Phoenix Copely back from the Lightning, who had claimed him on waivers when it looked like Vasilevskiy would miss some time at the start of the season. Darcy Keumper is out for a bit, so they needed somebody to back up Anton Forsberg. Yet another reason Bussi may end up sticking with the Canes for longer than it takes to get Kooch healthy. It's been open season on third options this season.

With the cap space the Canes have available to them, I don’t see any reason why the Canes shouldn’t carry Bussi all season, unless he does turn out to be a pumpkin. He’s at the NHL minimum and his AHL salary is $400k. So from a cash perspective, there isn’t a big difference, it’s if they need that $775k in cap space down the road. With $10.1 million available now and a projected $44 million available at the deadline, I doubt it matters.
 
Hart cannot play until December 1st, so he is not going to be able to help Vegas out of their Adin Hill injury dilemma for the foreseeable future.
