2025-26 NHL Miscellaneous Thread

The only BBQ that isn’t “real” is the one people where people use it as a verb. I’m a massive fan of Eastern Que, but come on … the other stuff is good too.

And those look like St Louis ribs, which are freaking delicious when done right

Ok but Eastern or Western?
If anyone is familiar with Dick’s Last Resort restaurant chain, you know the servers are supposed to be rude and nasty to customers. When my oldest daughter graduated from Boston University, we went to Dick’s in Quincy Market for a post graduation lunch. The server made a butcher paper hat for my then 80 year old father that offered lap dances for $5. They had a menu item called ”North Carolina Barbecue”. My daughter asked the server if it was Eastern or Western and she was stunned into silence.

What do they count as obstructed view there?

Lenovo Center has a fair number of upper level seats that are officially considered obstructed view because the railings are in your sightline. I don't think they discount those for hockey (or for anything?)

The Leafs released their ticket prices, according to Gino Hard. This seems late in the game, considering that opening night is a little over a month away. But the cheapest standard seat, without an obstructed view is C$215.00. And why does a building built in 1999 have obstructed view seats?

Lots of complaints about the new stadium in Buffalo having obstructed view seats and the season ticket holders weren't able to see the obstruction when they selected seats....the real kick in the nuts is their obstructed view seats cost almost double what they paid for season tickets in better seats in the old stadium. There is a photo from one seat in the corner of the upper level and the jumbotron blocks his view from the 30 yard line to the end zone lol

So … hockey question.

Do the Red Wings know they don’t have a GM? Their camp opens on Sept 17th, their captain still wants out and they’ve still got a Top 4 RFA defenseman who hasn’t signed. Oh, and it would probably be smart to at least offer DeBrincat an extension since he’s your best winger and whatnot.

Or not. Whatever. If that was my team, I’d be incandescently angry.

They retained Yzerman as an advisor, maybe he’s trying to convince Chris Illitch to keep him.

Friedman says they’re actively interviewing. Training camp starts on September 17.

They’ve had almost a month and a half and have made exactly no moves since Yzerman stepped down. Reports have surfaced that Illich is basically paralyzed with indecision and pretty much only trusts people who have worked for the family before. They’ve basically been trying to talk themselves into moving Jeff Greenberg over from the Tigers … or maybe to talk Greenberg into it. He was an AGM with the Blackhawks (for one year) before he got the gig with the Tigers and it’s not like he’s done much there. Everybody else I’ve seen attached to the job is also in house.

Again, I’d be absolutely furious if I was a Wings fan and yet from this distance there doesn’t seem to be any pressure on them to hurry up and at least pretend they have a plan.
