The fact that teams have more money to use for offer sheets also means that they have more money to fend off offer sheets. The Ducks have more than enough spare cap space to match any offer that McTavish is likely to receive.

Common sense.
Offer sheets rarely succeed at the best of times and the best of times isnt when every team has a ton of extra money with which to match offer sheets. McTavish might get traded but an offer sheet wont be enough to pry him away from the Ducks. They will match any deal offered.
Why trade Price just to give another team LTIR money? We should use it ourselves
But if don't need the space, are we not just giving away 10.5 wiggle room? Seems to me it is a wash and would only be helping another org

Who wants to be the fool to handout 10+ mil to MM to even have Ducks think about not matching
Secondly you need a team to be totally capped out like Edmonton last year
Thirdly it screws up your internal cap if you have better star players who are next
When you connect all the dots they are rarely given out
