2 draft picks, which may or may not amount to anything (and in the mid-first round, probably a 4th liner or 3rd pair defenseman at best, based on the averages) a defenseman who, at the NHL level, may never be a top 4, and a goalie who might be a 1B if they pan out.

Besides, it's not like we would be the only team trying to land Barzal so we need to overpay somewhat. For a team wanting to rebuild, 2 first rounders and 2 prospects are just what the doctor ordered in exchange for a guy who will be in a rocking chair by the time the Isles are ready to contend for a Cup (if ever)

For Barzal, he gets to fulfill his father's wish, and he gets to pad his stats by playing with Demidov.

Barzal has averaged 66 GP over the last 8 years. By comparison, over the last 6 seasons, Kirby Dach has averaged just under 45 GP.

Dach is a terrible base line and comparable.
