2026-27 Canes Miscellaneous Thread

Vegas’ sellout streak ended on Thursday. There are some things in this article for Dundon to beware of.

Ticket prices rose relentlessly for years. Parking, food, and beer became increasingly expensive (though the recently introduced VGK Locals Menu offered some relief). Season ticket member gifts and gatherings pale in comparison to those of years past. Even giveaways have been scaled back, with some limited to the first 10,000 fans rather than everyone in attendance. Every season ticket holder I spoke with had at least one more example to add.

I'm happy for Dundon and the Canes organization, and for Raleigh for finally getting behind this team. (Prior years were half assed). But I have likely already been to my last game as a fan. I simply won't spend $500+ for 2 people to get to watch in person. My days of going to games are well behind me.

I think the current prices are not sustainable long term. You are catering to the rich and pricing it out of reach for most people and families. After awhile of winning or not you just don’t have the numbers. Especially with everything so expensive. At some point entertainment gets slotted in the budget in the right priority or closer to that.

As much as I agree with your sentiment, try telling the league and the NHLPA that when you are starting to see these contracts climb to a point of no return. The players certainly deserve an increase based on revenues but are these sky high salaries really going to be able to continue non stop without ticket prices and concessions spiraling out of control to offset things somewhat?

At some point the Canes current sellout streak will end too. As much as I enjoy being a full STM and have been fortunate enough to have the means to absorb the pricing increases every year, there will be a limit to what I can pay at some point in the not too distant future. When I get to that point, I'm not sure yet what our play will be....reduce to a partial plan, move to the upper levels, or stop buying tickets altogether.

The Triangle has enough 'people with money' to be able to support the continuing 5%+ rise in prices every year I think even if eventually they price me out of my current seats. Don't expect the NHLPA or their members or the owners to care at all about how expensive tickets and concessions are getting. Unless there is a massive attendance hit across all of the NHL, prices are going to continue to go up up up.

As for Vegas who relies on out of towners to be willing to help fill the arena while spending some time on the Strip, I would say we shouldn't be surprised that it was a Canada team on a weekday that broke the sellout streak.

Honestly, I'm just hoping to hold on long enough to enjoy the building upgrades if they ever eventually finish everything. Hopes are low at this point, considering how long it's taking to do the cheap and easy stuff in the building.

They need enough people that not only can afford it but also want to go to a bunch of games. That’s a much smaller number and as you price out some of those people there aren’t a lot more replacements for them.

Throw in continued winning ways and it still becomes a factor as the novelty of being one of the best teams in the league wears off. Or worse a rebuild.

I feel like they price out their core original reliable proven loyal fans at their own risk. It’s hard to find people who can and want to go to 30 plus games per year. Or 10 plus even.

STM in lower-level sideline seats since 1998 here, and I'm getting real close to the point you all are mentioning where it's just too dang expensive (> $300 for 2 tix and parking before any concessions) to go 20+ times a year. I've always managed my own STM split plan with friends where I keep half (the last 20 years it's just been 50-50 with one other couple on the other half) so I'd probably stay on that route first, see if there's any takers for a 10-gamer to take half of mine (I don't think the 1/4 season plans on their own can even get into the sideline sections) or a 14-gamer to split the plan 3 ways if my 50-50 partner is thinking the same.

Join the great unwashed in the 300s, or, as Tulsky referred to us, entry level fans. Aside from a brief sojourn to 122 when they offered Pure Hockey pricing, we’ve been upstairs since 2005-06.

We sat upstairs for years, including full season tickets in the section 304 Mezzanine price point for the 2000-2001 season. We almost always sat in the upper levels. When we returned to the area after our 2003-2012 'South Jersey' experience, when we went to games, now with the kids, we always sat in the upper level too. That was when you could easily get cheap tickets and effectively sit wherever you wanted upstairs.

We got an opportunity to sit near where our current seats are now for one game in 2017, and that pretty much sealed the deal for my wife. This is the 10th season with the same LL North full season tickets. I'm not sure how easily my wife would handle moving back to the upper level, but that will be a discussion for hopefully quite a way down the road.

Gave up my full season tickets in section 102 after the 08 season because I had to save for my son's college education.

He graduated Magna Cum Laude in '24 with an engineering degree without any college debt.

20 bucks a month to watch at home with my own bathroom and refreshments..... I'm good.

Ya, considered that but acrophobic wife and the Lenny's upper bowl do not see eye to eye. We were up there couple times on RYHA group tix back in the day and it did not go over well. Will just have to cut back on #games if it comes to that, or maybe move to behind the goal sections.

Maybe the mezzanine seats won’t trigger acrophobia? They‘re 1 step down from the concourse. And with your priority, you could probably snag a pair just about anywhere.

We ditched our STs around 2013 but still went to random games up until COVID. We went to one game in the 21-22 season when there was limited attendance, and that might have been the last time.

Yeah, you can tell Tulsky hasn't been talking to the ticket sales force much when he says stuff like that. The sections they keep for single game sales are and whoever on Earth buys those party deck tickets are entry level customers, sure ... but the full STMs upstairs are lifers, man. Hardcore Caniacs.
