As for excuses, I don't see it as excusing but the lawyer in me always has to find ways to defend, explain, distinguish situations. Sad as it might be, I can't see the world as solely black and white, right and wrong, just varying degrees on a spectrum. This guy is far on left of bad on left to right spectrum of bad but age/maturity is a factor so that leads to questions for me.
I admit, I have defended my son and advocated for him when he likely wrong so even if Miller's parents are dickwads, I understand if they defended their son. I might have told my son he was wrong privately, but no way admitted to teachers, insurers, hockey organizations or whomever.
