2026 NHL UFA/Trade Thread

Back up the brinks truck for Robertson, acquisition cost will go down as July 1st approaches - Dal has only 3 options:

1) give in to Robertson’s $alary demand$
2) sign him for 1yr leading to UFA next summer
3) lower acquisition cost to open up potential trade partners

It’d be hilarious if Robertson ended up in MTL .. he’d unite with Caufield and Hutson as Americans left off the Olympic squad for not being tough enough to play against

Gorton’s remark re: Hage

“if you see something that happens that changes your mind”

Robertson would be the dangling of such a carrot to “change his mind”…

Maybe spend on a winger? I would be OK with a lesser 2C who then replaces Danault next year. (I’m not sold on Kapanen.)

A true NJH 5-6 RH D would be good too.

I would like more balance and a tougher team to play against, but not at the cost of a stupid trade or contract.

In house improvement of Slafkovsky, Demidov, Bolduc, Newhook, Reinbacher and Engstrom is just as important, if not more. That’s up to MSL and Nicholas, not so much HuGo.
OMG Gorton broke Coq after yesterday. It’s only June 26.

I agree that minor Greer type moves will be had. The fact that they have yet to trade Gally or announce a buyout gives me pause. I am ok with that since we had basically 10 forwards we could run out there during the playoffs. Our depth needs to get better. But also payers higher in the lineup are internal promotions.

They seem to be holding out for Hage.

lol 🤯

Yah, not opposed to a big trade. I just think the market is koo-koo and some incremental moves might be more palatable for management. It’s possible UFAs might be more viewed as more sensible, which is saying something.

That said, they should also be sensitive about perceptions in the room. Perceived inaction might cause doubts. (Though bad moves can be cause more anxiety down the road, see: Detroit.)

I don't think Hage has a man crush on Robertson, so it won't move the needle.

Some guys love college life and don't want to say goodbye, just yet. He'll get to play on a stacked team, with less pressure, so more time to better his game and hit the gym. That's what he's weighing IMO
