the rebuild is interesting because Bergy acquired three existing major pieces: Suzuki, Caufield, Dobes
HuGo still haven't found a C, which is what Bergy spent most of his efforts on (KK (top 3 pick), Drouin (top 9 pick, Sergachev)

I’d rather Habs have Hughes’ negotiating skills, than Bergevin’s trading skills.
Bergy also lucked into Suzuki…but i’ll still give him credit for it….5 years into the rebuild, still waiting for Hughes to luck into a 2C

Lest we forget: Price, Pacioretty, Gallagher all took sweetheart 2nd / 3rd contracts.
Petry like Matheson forewent UFA ..twice.
HuGo have seemingly been far superior at establishing team culture but had the luxury of non expectation rebuild.
It's longer than 4 years.

Yes for sure longer….until our core players are in their primes….
But next 4 years is the easiest time to win a Cup, while the team has cap flexibility
But nothing happens as planned….everyone had Avs winning this year
I don't think that was your original point, and it's also not accurate.
There is no "easy time" to win a Cup. And the "window" is at least 7-8 years. Hopefully it won't take that long but it could. Carolina, as an example.

And it could just as easily be other examples like Sedin Twins Canucks, Thornton-Marleau Sharks, Benn-Seguin Stars, Matthews-Marner Leafs
They thought they had time…but as everyone started making more money, it became harder to build a winner or repeat their playoff runs.
Point is, time flies…Suzy is already halfway through his contract…
I don't think HuGo are intentionally slowing it down but it will take what it will take.

So Tarasenko is now a Milstein client and Nikishin (who plays RD) is a Quartexx client.
And HuGo are looking to add a player to complement Demigod & strengthen RD

LOL. It’s my opinion. I can decide to include Dobes now if I want. And change my mind later if he becomes Steve Penney.
Ps. It was more than a playoff run. He was one of the best goalies in the league post Olympics. Sorry that your boy Fowler was not the playoff hero this yr
