Around The League: 2016-17 Playoffs

Re: Around The League: 2013 - 2014 Season

He'd also be the perfect partner for either Subban or Markov. Especially Markov actually.

I think he'd be perfect with Subban. That would allow Markov to play with Emelin, Gorges with Tinordi as the shutdown pair. We'd have one of the best overall defense in the league. Dare to dream...

Re: Around The League: 2013 - 2014 Season

in all fairness, Emelin has never been given an opportunity offensively, je dit seulement

Re: Around The League: 2013 - 2014 Season

PK is the only Hab dman I wouldn't trade straight up for McDo

you are forgetting about 55's voodoo curse that always ensures he gets big minutes

Re: Around The League: 2013 - 2014 Season

In my alternate universe, we never traded McD, and therefore didn't need to bring Cube back.

hell, if we had taken Jeff Carter or Ryan Getzlaf in 2003, never have a need for Gomez,, but you forget one important point, for whatever reason, we always see a need to bring 55 back

I really think too many people overvalue Mcdo....
Yes was a bad trade, but please he is not the second coming.
He started well, but seems to me his development has slowed down dramatically.

None of this contradicts my statement.

Re: Around The League: 2013 - 2014 Season

you're a good man

Re: Around The League: 2013 - 2014 Season

Well the intention was not to contradict you, mind you I would never trade tinordi for mcdo, nor even Nathan .

Then you're either insane, blind or a total homer. McDonagh blows both of them out of the water.

will he allegedly blow them out of the water when they are his age and have his years of NHL experience?

I guarantee if he played for us, his limitations would be exposed, his mistakes would be visible and he wouldn't be some holy grail that some have made him out to be

Re: Around The League: 2013 - 2014 Season

Brad Stuart gets a three-game suspension for his hit on Rick Nash last night.

Strombone ‏@strombone1
I sure hope someone doesn't Hertl my feelings tomorrow...

Yes. And really, I don't even see how either Tinordi or Beaulieu can be better than McDonagh. He has more tools than both of them. And that's assuming Beaulieu can make it as an every day NHLer because right now, his defensive play leaves a lot to be desired.

The only thing Tinordi has over McDonagh is size & physical play. Skating, hockey sense, defensive game, offensive output... McDonagh beats him in all of those. Beaulieu only beats McDonagh in terms of offensive game & skating. If he can't improve his defensive game, it won't matter how good his offensive game & skating is because he won't be in the NHL.

Nobody's making McDonagh out to be the holy grail, but if we had traded, say, Carey Price 5-6 years ago for some over the hill schmuck with a bad contract, everyone here would still be complaining that we gave up a starting goaltender for the next 10+ years for this schmuck and imagining how our goaltending situation would be better. If we never trade McDonagh, our lack of defensive depth doesn't look so bad right now. A top-4 of McDonagh-Subban & Markov-Gorges would look pretty damn good to me.

Markov is done and Gorges has been mediocre for about two years now.

Re: Around The League: 2013 - 2014 Season

Yeah but with PK and McDo hogging the ice, Markov and Georges wouldn't have to be great.
