Around the League: 2019-2020 Regular Season

Bergevin can’t attract players who have a choice (UFAs) and won’t pay for players who don’t have a choice.

The parts of the team he built were laid on a bargain hunters mentality.
Tatar was a throw in
Domi was his back to the wall get what you can for AG
Byron was a waiver pick up
Dano hadn’t lived up to his potential
Armia was a salary dump
Weber was his back to the wall get what you can for PK
Weal, Folin, Kulak, etc. are part of that endless list of scrubs he loves to waste time on.

If you take an objective look you’d have to conclude this guy can’t get anything right CONSCIOUSLY. The horseshoe he hides in his left bicep has kept him in the game.

He’s basically a GM on life support.

Yes, better to spend almost exactly that on a proven vet. like Alzner.

McPhee on Gusev's potential- “We think he’s a very intelligent player, he’s got very good hands, he’s not a big guy and he doesn’t have elite speed. So it’s hard to know exactly what he’ll be.”

he got radulov, too bad he didnt sign him to a longer initial contract

Ya forgot that one. But again, that summer he strikes out and brings in Radulov which was a Hail Mary wasn’t it.

And when the player shows that he was worth it, the idiot picks a media battle with him and loses him.

When’s the last time he brought in a player in his prime, paid the price, and was the type of player we could get genuinely excited about? I can’t think of one.
