Some chatter about the draft lottery including the 7 non-playoff teams AND the losers of the play-in.

Which could be interesting in the event we lose to CBJ if that proposed scenario was to happen.

The exact condition on the 1st rounder we traded to Carolina is that if it ends up in the top-10, it becomes a 2021 1st rounder.

So we’re covered, I guess.

I know it could benefit us, but I hate that those teams that get into the playoffs still have a shot.

It's actually a pretty good idea. I've hated the idea that teams with shit records (Habs) lose their chance in the lottery just to lose in the "play in." And it also sucks that teams that were surefire locks for the playoffs can lose out on the playoffs.

This kind of eliminates/mitigates both of those issues.

I'm working on my predictions, but Habs are going on a run here folks. Pens are going down.
It's unfortunate we may just see our first Habs/Leafs playoffs since 1979 and it likely won't be hosted in either city.

I really hate the expanded format. It's what will add to the asterisk talk, moreso than if the bottom teams were eliminated now. Imagine the stain on the season if one of the teams not even in a playoff spot goes on a run and takes out a couple of the established teams, or even wins the Cup. Literally anything can happen after a layoff like this, and if something like that unfolds, the season will go down as a massive joke.
