Around the League 2019-2025 Edition

most recent net ratings look like....

Matthews 20 --- Hintz 10
Marner 15 --- Robertson 13
Nylander 10 --- Rantanen 9

Tavares 10 --- Duchene 6
Knies 5 --- Johnston 9
McMann -2 --- Marchment -1

Domi -4 --- Granlund -2
Pacioretty -5 --- Benn +1
Laughton -5 --- Seguin +4

Holmberg -6 --- Steel -7
Jarnkrok -5 --- Dadonov -5
Lorentz -8 --- Blackwell -8

Robertson -5 --- Bourque -5

A lot riding on old Benn being better than our current version of old Pacioretty, and on Seguin being back from injury. And even if they do still have those edges i'm not sure that balances out the difference in matthews v hintz up top.

The Stars' big edge over the Leafs is their top-2 D being so much better than ours, although even then Playoffs Mo might be having a word to Harley about that. And of course Heiskanen has been out for like 4 months now with that knee injury and probably wouldn't even be considering coming back if it wasn't playoffs. Hard to believe he'll be normal Heiskanen even if he comes back.

And we can feel bad for their injuries but the only reason they've been able to stack their roster like this is because of LTIR abuse so whatever.

really comes down to those old depth guys for them tbh.

Up top, even an injured Matthews is a big edge over Hintz.

But then yeah Robertson/Rantanen/Duchene matches up pretty well with Marner/Nylander/Tavares. Then you get an interesting young matchup of Knies vs Johnston after that.

The stars have the depth edge beyond that but even then I'm not just conceding that Domi/Pacioretty/McMann are completely outclassed by Granlund/Benn/Marchment. Though Dallas still has Seguin after that and i don't really have any idea how he's been since coming back from what looked like a career ender. Offensively we could squeeze robertson into that depth matchup to make the numbers look a little better i guess.

That's kind of the problem. 21 points in 20 regular season games since he came back from the surgery so I'm going to bet that the injury wasn't career ending. I don't think he's likely to be PPG Seguin again either, especially in a diminished role but running Benn-Duchene-Seguin out there as a 2B line is pretty nasty.

I mean, thank fuck for Max playing like a legend for the last week or two, but I don't see Domi, McMann, or Holmberg making their top 9. Honestly don't see why Max would make that top 9 either, even with how good he's been the last 10 days.

kinda funny that the one mistake i think berube has made, playing Stolarz every game and no Woll, was forced on him anyways.

so many of these other teams have no choice but to stick with their starters even though they kinda stink. we shouldn't have that problem.

And yeah i don't see why you would hype granlund over domi.

Two years in a row of 60+ points, 3 of his last 4.

And patches being as good as benn wouldn't be a surprise either.

It would be a massive, and awesome surprise. Max hasn't been a consistently healthy and productive version of himself for 3 years now. Benn is slowly shuffling off to retirement but still scored 15ev goals this season.

getting a ton of underserved ice time and PP time on a dregs team tho.

nah you just underrate patches. he's actually very good if healthy.

I cant keep track anymore what Zeke does and doesn't stand for and when he ironically starts praising things he used to always hate.

Next he's going to post a video of himself downing a baked potato on IG

Career Playoffs

Granlund 67gms, 12gls, 34pts (15gl/42pt pace) --- EV 10gls, 22pts (12gl/27pt pace)
Domi 58gms, 9gls, 30pts (12gl/42pt pace) --------- EV 9gls, 27pts (12gl/38pt pace)

He was probably on the preds' top PP unit. He's not on the Stars' top unit.
