Canucks have a very bright future. They'll be back. Islanders have to win tonight. They simply won't get better and will only regress. STars have to win it all. Their team is old. Same with Vegas.
 
Canucks would have been gone in five without the heroics of Demko. It starts and stops there.


What amazes me is how far Colorado got missing both goalies, Landeskog, Donskoi and a few other starters. They were really banged up and it took the heroics of another nobody to take them out.

If they get a solid goalie look out. I'd love to trade Price to them, they have some sweet assets they could easily pony up.

The "Matthews to Arizona" meme was always just trolling Leaf fans. Even those who actually believed it a legit possibility only believed it was a possibility because they're more interested in trolling Leaf fans than in making sense of the world.

There's really no correlation between Tavares "Going Home" and Matthews doing the same. I guarantee if Leafs were in the same situation as Arizona is June of 2018, Tavares would not have even met with the Leafs.
Look at the insane bonuses Matthews gets July 1st. Arizona can't even pay their small bonuses or meal money.
John Chayka knew what was coming and bailed.

Oh I know it's not happening. It would be deja vu sending them another goalie to win another couple of cups with and yes, they'd have to eat a ton of salary to even get someone interested.

Or he could try the Lemieux plan. Sign a huge contact then end up owning the team when they can't pay. Solid retirement plan.

The casinos here are packed. Here's the ridiculousness of the situation in Florida, you can go to the Hard Rock Casino but you can't eat in a restaurant, shop in a store or congregate by the pools there . You can do whatever you want in the casino though. Curious no?

Problem is Jim Benning took the strategy of vastly overpaying for "supporting cast" type players (kind of the Bizzaro version of Dubas or the Pens model where you spend a good chunk of your cap on your 'core players' and fill-out the rest of the roster with what's left). It only works if you can continually hit on draft picks (re: ELCs). Guys like Myers will soon be an anchor (where others like Eriksson, Sutter, Beagle, Ferland already are).

I mean, who the **** gives a 4th line center like Beagle a NTC *AND* term? Retroactive NTC to Sutter when he aquired him. Madness!

Considering what Lemieux’s stake in the team would be worth how, he made out like a bandit in that move. Far more money than even a superstar player from that era ever could’ve hoped to make in salary.

We won’t ever see that kind of situation again as long as there’s a hard salary cap, though.

Agreed but Im also not handing the job over to Demko without another option

He hasnt put up elite numbers since his college days outside of this four game stretch
